Gary Allison is a retired German-born American soccer goalkeeper who played professionally in the North American Soccer League, American Soccer League and Major Indoor Soccer League.

College

Allison was born in Germany but attended Westmont College in the United States. He played on the Westmont soccer team from 1969 to 1972 and was inducted into the NAIA Soccer Hall of Fame in 1986.[1][2]

Professional

In 1973, he signed with the Dallas Tornado of the North American Soccer League. He played only one game over two seasons. In 1975, he played for the Los Angeles Aztecs. In 1976 and 1977, he played for the Sacramento Spirits of the American Soccer League.[3] He led the league with the lowest goals against average in 1977.[4] He returned to the NASL in 1978, this time with the San Diego Sockers. In 1979, he signed with the Cleveland Force of Major Indoor Soccer League. That year he also gained his U.S. citizenship. Over the five year, he would spend a single season with each of the following teams: Cleveland, Chicago Horizon, Pittsburgh Spirit, Los Angeles Lazers and Buffalo Stallions. He retired from playing professionally in 1984.
